What exactly does 'access for all' mean?
City services meant for all and planned for all. Flower planters look beautiful and bicycle racks are the way of future in downtown Calgary, but we need to watch where we put them. Audible signals guide people with visual disabilities safely along Stephen Avenue Mall, but the Pedestrian Criss-Cross Pilot project at Eau Claire confuses these same people.

Last night at the annual Mayor’s Evening for Business and the Arts, Mayor Dave hosted quite a party to celebrate Calgary’s blossoming Arts scene. The event was a tribute to all the artists currently performing their craft on stages and in galleries throughout the city and to the patrons in the business community who continue to support them.

I thought readers of this blog would find some of CMLC's more recent archaeological findings in East Village interesting. We have been working on documenting archaeological sites throughout East Village for several months now in preparation for development, and recently we have been working within the parking lot across from the Orange Lofts on the NW corner of 8th Avenue and 4 Street SE.

This week has certainly been great for public art in Calgary.
On Monday, it was announced that artist Dennis Oppenheim’s “Device to Root out Evil” (the upside down church) will be coming to the Glenbow. The piece was originally in Vancouver, but after some controversy and complaints about it blocking the ocean view, it is now on its way to Calgary.
