The Old Y Centre celebrated its centennial earlier this summer with an historic tea party. The event was to help recognize the significant role the building has played for so many women in Calgary and also for various non-profit organizations over the past 100 years.
This landmark building in the Centre City (223 - 12th Ave. SW) now houses over 50 charitable organizations and is still a hub of activity in the Beltline today. Take The Art City Festival for example, which is scheduled for September 9th to 17th. There will be public installations and events throughout Calgary, including a telephone booth installation in the Old Y building. This will be a great way to become better acquainted with this cherished historical site if you haven't already had a chance to do so. Visit www.artcityfestival.com/about for more details.
Check out www.oldycentre.com for more info on future events.
