The City of Calgary is looking for your input on Chinatown's only major public park. Officials and dedicated community members are looking to make some improvements on the much-used Sien Lok Park in our Centre City.
If you'd like to view the preliminary design plan or to get started on offering up any feedback, visit the project website here until August 26th.You can also catch Parks staff and community volunteers with the project at the Chinatown Street Festival on Saturday August 13th. There, they'll be presenting the preliminary draft design plan and you can share your feedback and ideas at that time as well.
The free and family-friendly Chinatown Street Festival is happening Saturday August 13th from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3rd Avenue and 1st Street S.E.

I commented on the website, but I think the design needs to be reworked. The northeast portion of the park connects to the Riverwalk segregated cycling route, as well the pathway connects to the northwest Bow River pathway, and to the SW is the proposed onstreet cycling route on 1st St SW. There is a lot of trees at the intersections, many intersections that create issues with right of way and increase the potential for accidents. I am usually very supportive of projects like this, but I can't wrap my head around the routing for cycling in Sien Lok and how it connects the pathway routes to the onstreet routes. Thank you for posting about this park design.
